I'm shopping for a tablet. Got reviews?

4:03 PMMelanie M.

So I think it's about time I invest in a tablet. I loved the idea when they first started coming out, but I didn't think I needed it since I had a laptop. I'm happy with my laptop as it does what I need it to do. But I'm ready to give my kids my laptop..ONLY if I can find myself a tablet. Now when I talk about tablet, I don't want an iPad. I know many people love their iPads, but at this point, if I'm looking for something other than an iPad. Don't get me wrong, I know Apple is great. But I'm currently not an Apple geek. I'm the kind of person that if I get an Apple (anything) I will want to change every gadget I have to Apple too. Ok, I know that's not a bad thing but for one, I don't have the money to do that! I've been using a PC for years and have purchased and accumulated so much software. If I were to go MAC, I'd have to spend a hefty amount of money on software alone.

One thing is for sure, I am happy with the Android platform. I currently have an HTC Evo which I had wanted from the moment it came out. Besides the battery life on it, I love it. It does (almost) everything I need it to do as far as applications and browsing the internet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is at the top of my list. Samsung has the 7.0, 8.9 and the 10.1. I will be continuing my research and making sure I'm getting the best gadget for my money being that it is an investment!

There are so many tablets out there. It's just like shopping for a new smartphone or even a car. I found this comparison chart on the internet that might help you if you're shopping for a tablet too.

Do you have a tablet? What's your thoughts? Can you share your insights?

  1. I appreciate you not wanting an iPad, but you will regret that decision...I test drove a series of tablets, from the Galaxy Tablet to the Xoom, to the iPad...and bar none, the iPad was the best user experience, sleekest, most comfortable to use and hold, most functional, etc... I also like the android platform, I have an HTC Incredible phone, but as far as tablets go, the iPad rules the day and is light years
ahead of the competition. The iPad I bought is my fist ever Apple product that I have ever bought...this one is a winner.

  2. Thanks for your comment Dan. I appreciate it. Don't get me wrong, I know how great iPads, iphones, MACbooks and all are. I just prefer not to have it. To me the thought of changing over from PC and Android to ALL Apple makes me cringe because of all the $$ I'd be spending on upgrading and changing everything. Its not like Apple products are cheap. I've always had to stick to my gut (and my wallet) to stay clear of MAC. I am the type of person that will want to change all my gadgets if I change one. For my line of business I would have to change all my software too and that itself is too pricey.

  3. I hear you. I don't really want an iPad either. I'm waiting to see what people think of the new Kindle Fire. I think it has some definite possibilities.

  4. I borrowed a Samsung Galaxy Tab for a week or so and I really loved it. I liked the smaller size and it was easy to use. I am actually hoping to purchase my own if I can find it in our monthly budget.
